Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity ReStore is one easy way you can get started with the process of helping local families realize their dream of homeownership. ReStore is an integral part of Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity. As you give your time and effort to ReStore, more and more resources are available to put toward preparing the homes of Habitat partner families. That’s a big reason we rely on volunteers to power ReStore, but there are many reasons to serve in this way:
Join our crew for work and fun! Volunteering is a great way to build friendships and community.
Come once a week, once a month, or anytime that fits your schedule.
Volunteering at the ReStore impacts your local community and contributes to our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
At Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity, we build! But swinging a hammer is not a requirement for volunteering. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us in our mission to make affordable housing a reality for families in our community. Whatever your experience, stage of life, skill set, or passion, there is a place for you here.

There are many opportunities to serve at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and we would love to partner with you in an effort to eliminate sub-standard housing in our Lake & Geauga communities. Take a look at some of the volunteer options that are available:
Help bag items, assist customers with checkout, and help with paperwork.
Sales floor workers assist customers in locating departments and specific items. They answer questions about items or refer customers to ReStore staff for further information.
A cashier’s primary role is to assist customers in the in-store check-out process. Main duties include ringing up sales, bagging items, collecting payment and giving appropriate change.
Shelvers place items on the sales floor after they have been cleaned, priced and deemed appropriate for sale. Volunteer Shelvers should have a “decorating eye” and “retail sense”.
Driver helpers assist the drivers on the pickup of donations.
The donations assistant works on the loading dock accepting donations directly from drop-off donors. The merchandise is then cleaned and taken to the sales floor.
We’re always looking for people to repair or touch-up furniture and other items that are slightly damaged.
Housewares pricers clean and assign prices to items to be sold.
ReStore can accommodate groups of up to ten people. Volunteer dates must be scheduled in advance. This is a great team-building activity for people in your work place, place of worship, and civic group. It’s a great way to give back to the community!
