Thank you for visiting Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity website. We work to build strength, stability and independence in both Lake and Geauga counties by partnering with families and helping them achieve home ownership. We believe that affordability is the key to home ownership, and we work to provide just that. Future Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers. They pay an affordable, zero-interest mortgage, along with their own utilities, taxes, and all other housing expenses.
We call this a hand up, not a hand out.
We concentrate all our building efforts right here in Lake and Geauga County, typically building 3-4 houses annually. Nearly all our labor is donated by volunteers, including 300 sweat equity hours from the homeowners themselves. We also help with home modifications for local residents who already have a home, but need changes in order to stay there.
Our work in Lake and Geauga Counties benefits all residents, not just the new homeowners. We are improving neighborhoods, strengthening relationships, fixing eyesores, and fostering independence and stability. And through this, we are building much more than houses. We are building community.
You can help a family discover the strength, stability, and self-reliance that comes with owning a decent and affordable home. Whether you volunteer or donate, when you partner with Lake-Geuaga Habitat for Humanity you’re building a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow.
